Paternity checklist
- Requesting paternity leave must be discussed with line managers to ensure staffing can be organised where required. Employees are encouraged to discuss this as early as possible.
- Employees need to ensure that all systems are updated with the start date of paternity. The application for paternity leave and form should be completed and sent to HR at least 4 weeks before the baby is due.
- An employee can change their mind about the date on which they want their leave to start providing they inform HR at least 28 days in advance (unless this is not reasonably practicable).
Don't worry!
Whilst we ask employees to state a due date on the Paternity/Non-Birthing Parent form we are very much aware babies will arrive when they arrive. In cases of elected caesarean or babies arriving early, please don’t worry, contact HR via email and we can take that as confirmation of the potential change to your leave start date and make the necessary changes.
